Music festivals 2019

Music connects people, and a music festival brings them together. A music festival consists of a community event of live performances of singing and instrument playing such as blues, folk, jazz, classical music.

A Music Festival is generally held outdoors, with tents or roofed provisional stages for the performers. And the most important thing is the attractions such as food and merchandise vending, art and social or cultural activities. These draw a plus for the festival. Many events are annual, but some are held only once.

We all know that music festivals have settled as an evolving industry that contributes to many national economies. Music festivals nowadays act as a product to build a brand for a destination, which will help create a unique image for the purpose.

Music education

The music education is often planned each year in local communities, regionally, or nationally, for the advantage of amateur musicians of all ages and grades of achievement. Contestants perform prepared songs in front of spectators which include competitors, family and friends, and members of the community and judges. These judges are probably music teachers, professors, or professional performers which give verbal and written feedback to each performer.

The judges give a certificate according to excellence. Such festivals help in giving a friendly and creating a supportive platform for musicians to share their talent for music.

Festivals around the world

  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s is an 11-day event, Summerfest, encourages itself as “The World’s Largest Music Festival”, a title certified by the Guinness World Records that has been held since 1999.
  • Running each year since 1968, the festival attracts between 800,000 and 1,000,000 people yearly and hosts over 800 musical acts.
  • The Woodstock Festival in 1969 drew nearly 500,000 attendees and the Polish spin-off Przystanek Woodstock in 2014 drew 750,000. It became the biggest open-air annual festival in Europe and the second-largest in the world.
  • Roskilde Festival in Denmark entices about 135,000 spectators each year.
  • Glastonbury Festival has a mass of around 275,000 spectators and recently, it is named the biggest non-annual greenfield festival in the world.
  • The oldest annual pop music festival in the world is the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands, though in other genres, and the older ones: the Three Choirs Festival.
  • The Queensland Music Festival, established in 1999 and headquartered in Brisbane Australia, is the music festival by landmass.

The famous and Biggest festival of all time is the Coachella! It is one of the most profitable music festivals in the United States and internationally. Each Coachella is played from 2013 to 2015 and has made new records for festival appearance and gross revenues. For instance, in 2017 the festival was attended by 250,000 people and made $114.6 million. This year, the event was on the 12th of April till the 21st.
