Digidesign is one of the biggest names in the audio production industry, and rightly so for all the high class professional software and hardware solutions it has produced over the years. However, with these solutions being aimed at professionals, they carried professional price-tags (hundreds of £'s or $'s), and that being, in my opinion, their main problem. Pro Tools Free is there first offering into the freeware, and budget market. It offers 8 audio tracks, 48 midi tracks, and 2 tracks of I/O support. you get 5 inserts and sends per channel, and a variety in RTAS Plug-ins.
